While looking up something else, it was nice to come across this excellent survey article on the multi-disciplinary telemedicine system that operates daily in Texas, serving thousands of patients monthly and saving taxpayer dollars while improving care quality.

In addition to the excellent leaders mentioned in the article, I am proud to say that NuPhysicia’s Senior Vice President Dr. Oscar Boultinghouse and I (CEO Glenn Hammack), along with former colleague Dr. Michael Davis, were instrumental in creating and implementing the system between 2001 and 2004. It stands alone as the largest and longest operating high-volume multi-specialty multi-location telemedicine network in the USA, outclassed only by the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) in Canada.

I hope you might take the time to review this terrific summary as published online by the Pew Charitable Trusts. It paints a very clear picture of what successful, sustained telemedicine looks like, and the kind of value it can create for the USA health system as a whole.
